Immigration Department repatriates 23 Vietnamese illegal immigrants

27th February 2024 – (Hong Kong) Immigration Department (ImmD) conducted a repatriation operation today, successfully returning 23 Vietnamese illegal immigrants to Vietnam. The group consisted of 12 men and 11 women, all of whom were individuals with unverified non-refoulement claims. Notably, among those repatriated were former prisoners who had been convicted of criminal offences and served prison sentences.

The ImmD reaffirms its unwavering commitment to expedite the removal process for illegal immigrants and overstayers in Hong Kong. The department aims to repatriate individuals promptly, taking into account the prevailing circumstances and employing appropriate measures as necessary.
