Immigration authorities arrest several individuals suspected of illegal labour at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai


25th May 2024 – (Hong Kong) Immigration Department officers apprehended multiple individuals at an exhibition venue within the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Wan Chai today. The suspects, who were in the midst of setting up the venue, are believed to be involved in illegal labour activities. Photographs provided by eyewitnesses depict several law enforcement officers wearing identification badges as they detain the suspected illegal workers, some of whom were seen sitting on the ground after being apprehended.

In response to inquiries, the Immigration Department stated that today they conducted an operation targeting illegal labour in the Wan Chai area, resulting in the arrest of four individuals suspected of engaging in unlawful employment within the exhibition venue. The arrested individuals, all males, range in age from 41 to 49 years old. Investigations into the case are currently underway.
