20th April 2024 – (Hong Kong) Mong Kok recently became the site of an illicit shisha operation at an upstairs bar, as unveiled by the Health Department. Through their vigilant efforts to combat illegal smoking activities, the Tobacco and Alcohol Control Office deployed an undercover team to gather evidence. Two male and female agents disguised as regular customers infiltrated the bar, ultimately exposing the provision of shisha services to patrons.

Seizing the opportune moment, authorities swiftly took action. Eight customers were promptly issued fixed penalty tickets for their involvement in the prohibited activity. Additionally, a 23-year-old female waitress, identified as Tam, was arrested on charges of “assisting and inciting others to smoke in designated non-smoking areas.” As part of the investigation, law enforcement officials confiscated a shisha device as crucial evidence.
