Hyatt Regency Hotel in Sha Tin suspends business for 14 days after a female employee tested positive for COVID-19

26th March 2020 – (Hong Kong) For the first time in Hong Kong, a hotel will be closed for 14 days due to COVID-19 infection. Hyatt Regency Hotel in Sha Tin sent an email to employees this evening to state that a female employee was unfortunately diagnosed with COVID-19 yesterday (25th).

After contacting the Department of Health, the hotel decided to close the hotel and restaurants for 14 days starting from tonight to 9th April so that it can be cleaned and disinfected thoroughly before reopening on 10th April. A hotel spokesperson confirmed that all hotel guests must leave the hotel immediately to find alternative accommodation, and guests will be refunded, but did not disclose the number of affected guests.
