Hunggang Port, checkpoint into Hong Kong is fast turning into a ghost town as the number of incoming mainland tourists continue to drop due to protests

19th August 2019 – (Hong Kong) Since the anti-extradition protests started in Hong Kong in June, the total number of mainland Chinese visiting Hong Kong has reduced sharply. In the past, at least 200 mainland Chinese tour groups made a bee line to enter Hong Kong from Huanggang Port, Futian, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. Tens of thousands of tourists would flock into the city not mentioning Shenzhen residents who entered Hong Kong on their own account.

In recent days, Huanggang Port is becoming increasingly peaceful and only a few tour buses are seen on daily basis. The days of the long queues of mainland Chinese tourists are over.
