31st March 2023 – (Singapore) Huawei, the leading technology company from China, has officially inaugurated its latest regional centre for joint innovation and solution R&D in Asia-Pacific (APAC), known as OpenLab 3.0. Valued at 20 million U.S. dollars, the project aims to upgrade OpenLab in Singapore and spread its capabilities across the APAC region and beyond.
The main objective of OpenLab 3.0 is to accelerate the digital transformation in the Asia-Pacific region by serving as a global technology platform for local partners, customers, and higher learning institutions. The platform aims to explore joint solutions based on the demands of various industries and contribute to building a digital APAC.
According to Nicholas Ma, the president of Huawei APAC Enterprise Business Group, OpenLab 3.0 is an important project that aims to support the growing need for digital innovation across the APAC region. He stated, “OpenLab 3.0 is a global technology platform for local partners, customers, and institutions of higher learning in the APAC. It explores joint solutions based on the demands of various industries and continuously contributes to building the digital APAC.
Huawei’s OpenLab 3.0 is a platform for innovation, experience, and know-how sharing. It is set to emerge as a pivotal hub for talent cultivation across the region. According to Zhang Zhengjun, the vice president of Huawei APAC Public Affairs and Communications, the platform exemplifies their talent-centric commitment. He stated, “OpenLab 3.0, a platform for innovation, experience, and know-how sharing, exemplifies our talent-centric commitment, and is set to emerge as a pivotal hub for talent cultivation across the region.”
The launching ceremony of OpenLab 3.0 Asia-Pacific was witnessed by Goh Pei Sheng, the vice president of the Singapore Economic Development Board’s Digital Industry Singapore. Over 60 distinguished guests from the technology and public sector, industry associations, and universities attended the event. The launch event aimed to showcase the potential of OpenLab 3.0 in driving digital transformation across the APAC region.
Huawei has established OpenLabs worldwide, serving as open innovation platforms where the company collaborates with local partners to develop industry solutions for the region. The OpenLab in Singapore was officially launched in 2016, and now, with the launch of OpenLab 3.0, the company aims to expand its reach and capabilities across the APAC region and beyond.
