6th June 2023 – (Hong Kong) HSBC Holdings plans to launch a new flagship investor conference in Hong Kong next April to fill the void left by Credit Suisse Group’s long-running event. The London-based bank intends to hold the conference at the Conrad Hotel in Central, Hong Kong’s main business district, from 8th to 10th April. HSBC expects over 2,000 clients and investors to attend, capitalising on the coinciding Hong Kong Rugby Sevens tournament.

“We will bring together clients, investors and thoughtful leaders from all around the world to discuss developments, challenges and, most of all, opportunities,” an HSBC spokesperson said.

The new conference comes as Hong Kong seeks to revive its economy after prolonged COVID-19 curbs and a political crackdown that has transformed the once freewheeling hub. As Hong Kong’s dominant bank, HSBC has balanced criticism from Western lawmakers over its support for a Beijing-imposed security law and pressure from its biggest shareholder, China’s Ping An Insurance, to spin off Asian operations.
