Household goods store in Tsuen Wan found with HK$75m worth of meth operated for months with no stocks for sale

30th January 2023 – (Hong Kong) After in-depth investigation and intelligence analysis, members of the special duty team of the Mong Kok Police District entered a household goods store on Heung Wo Street in Tsuen Wan District with a court warrant on 28th January, seized a total of 130 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine concealed in tea packages worth HK$75 million, and arrested the 42-year-old male shop assistant. The store involved appeared to be a household goods store. The background of the arrested male employee and the source of the seized drugs are still under investigation.

A person in charge of a nearby store said yesterday that the 500sqf household goods store involved in the case had been open for several months and only sold a small amount of goods for a long time. “Unexpectedly, it turned out that there was a large amount of drugs inside, and he was surprised by the incident. The rent in the area is around HK$30,000 – HK$40,000 and other shop owners nearby said that the raided store almost had no stocks for sale for months since opening.
