The authority also acknowledges that some citizens may experience emotional distress, and the mental health hotline will provide full support to those in need. Citizens can call 2466 7350 without an appointment, and professional medical personnel will be available to offer assistance. The hotline operates 24 hours a day, and the Hospital Authority will deploy additional staff to provide emotional support to affected citizens, including ethnic minorities, and help them deal with their distress as soon as possible.
A Hospital Authority spokesperson stated that citizens may experience acute stress reactions if they exhibit the following symptoms: anxiety, fear, anger, difficulty sleeping, involuntary recall of the events in their minds, avoidance of relevant people and things, and triggering of past traumatic memories. Everyone responds differently, and professional medical assistance should be sought immediately when needed.
