Hospital Authority will reopen the community treatment facilities at AsiaWorld-Expo this Wednesday to cope with increase in COVID-19 cases

23rd November 2020 – (Hong Kong) The COVID-19 epidemic has rebounded sharply, and the number of confirmed cases has increased exponentially in recent days, which has increased the load on public hospitals. According to sources, the Hospital Authority will reopen the community treatment facilities in Halls 1 and 2 of AsiaWorld-Expo this Wednesday (25th) to accept younger and milder confirmed COVID-19 patients.

There are a total of about 900 hospital beds in No. 1 and No. 2 Halls of AsiaWorld-Expo. The community treatment facility at the AsiaWorld-Expo was opened on 1st August. In response to the easing of the epidemic, it was converted to “standby” facility on 18th September. During this period, nearly 700 patients received treatment there.
