Hong Kong Professional Teachers’ Union to go on strike this week

12th June 2019 – (Hong Kong) In response to the worsening civil unrest, Hong Kong Professional Teachers’ Union called upon all lecturers and teachers at universities and local institutions this afternoon to go on strike for the rest of the week. The union strongly opposed to the use of excessive force by police against protestors and they felt that the relationship between the civilians and government have cracked further following the violent clashes today.

Apart from those teaching at kindergartens, the union has called for all others to go on strike and make alternative arrangements with the students.
