5th June 2023 – (Hong Kong) A video lasting about two minutes has been circulating on social media, showing a woman pushing a cart with foam boxes in Tai Kiu Market in Yuen Long. It is believed that the woman dropped one of the boxes on the ground, hitting a man who was buying vegetables. An argument ensued, leading to a physical altercation between the two.
In the video, the woman was pushed to the ground several times by the man before she suddenly grabbed the man’s private parts. The incident happened on 9th May at around 7pm in Yuen Long, Hong Kong. The police received a report from a passerby that a man and a woman were fighting in a market over a trivial matter.
The case has been handed over to the Yuen Long Criminal Investigation Division for further investigation. On 4th June, the police arrested a 68-year-old local woman in Yuen Long on suspicion of “fighting in a public place.” The investigation is ongoing, and the police have not ruled out the possibility of additional arrests.
The video footage was believed to have been taken by a surveillance camera installed in one of the shops. It was uploaded to various social media platforms and group chats on 3rd June. The incident took place in May at a vegetable stall in the centre of the market.
According to the footage, the woman dropped a foam box on the ground, hitting the man’s foot while he was buying vegetables. The man kicked the woman’s cart away when she dropped the second foam box. The woman placed her foam box next to the man’s foot and tried to retrieve the one that was kicked away. The man hit the foam box, causing it to fly away, and started to shout at the woman.
The altercation escalated into a physical fight, with the woman being pushed to the ground several times by the man. The woman then grabbed the men’s private parts to counter-attack.
