Hong Kong Observatory records the highest temperature of 35°C while Pollution Index (AQHI) reaches 10+ in Tung Chung

18th July 2019 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong Observatory recorded the highest temperature of 35 degrees C today, the highest in 2019. Meanwhile, the Air Quality Health Index (AQHI) in Tung Chung reached serious level of 10+.


Winds are weak and the weather is very hot over Guangdong. Locally, temperatures over most parts of the territory rose to 33 degrees or above around noon. Besides, the area of low pressure over the northeastern part of the South China Sea is bringing unsettled weather to the region.

At noon, Tropical Storm Danas was centred about 390 kilometres west-southwest of Okinawa. It is forecast to move north at about 25 kilometres per hour across the East China Sea.
