25th February 2024 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong experienced a drop in temperatures this morning as the northeast monsoon brought cool weather to the coastal areas of Guangdong. In the urban areas, temperatures plummeted to around 16 degrees Celsius, with even lower readings in the New Territories. The Hong Kong Observatory recorded a temperature of 16 degrees Celsius and a relative humidity of 77% at 8am today.

Over the past hour, the average UV index in Kowloon City was recorded at 0.1, indicating low intensity. Today is expected to be mainly cloudy, with cool mornings and some bright periods during the day. The maximum temperature will reach around 21 degrees Celsius, accompanied by gentle to moderate north to northeasterly winds. Looking ahead, the next two to three days will bring stronger winds, while mornings and nights will remain relatively cool.

The arrival of the fresh to strong northeast monsoon will bring cool weather to the southern coast of China in the coming days. Southern China will be covered by a broad band of clouds, and a replenishment of the monsoon is anticipated later this week, leading to further temperature drops across the region.
