Hong Kong Monetary Authority investigates 612 Humanitarian Relief Fund which covers medical and legal expenses for protesters


2nd August 2019 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong Monetary Authority is rumoured to be conducting investigations on the source of the donations to 612 Humanitarian Relief Fund to determine if any indictable offence has been committed.

The purpose of the fund is to provide FREE legal service for protesters who were arrested and charged during any anti-extradition protests and to provide medical expenses for those who were injured. The trustees of the fund included Joseph Zen, Cardinal of the Catholic Church from Hong Kong. He has been outspoken on issues regarding human rights, political freedom, and religious liberty, often attracting criticism from the Communist Party of China, singer Denise Ho, Cyd Ho Sau-lan andDr Margaret Ng Ngoi-yee, both ex-Legislative Councillors.
