26th May 2023 – (Hong Kong) A recent post on Chinese social media platform, Xiaohongshu, has sparked a conversation about Hong Kong men and their parenting skills. A mainland Chinese netizen shared her experience of encountering a Hong Kong man who was willing to help take care of a baby, calling him a “good dad” and stating that “Hong Kong men are so cute!”.
The netizen shared that while waiting for a bus in Hong Kong, she saw a young Hong Kong man carrying a baby with a large bag of formula in one hand and playing with the baby’s toys in the other. She was impressed by how responsible he was and how he seemed to enjoy being a dad.
The post has since gone viral, with many mainland Chinese netizens praising Hong Kong men for being good dads and taking care of their families. A common sentiment expressed was that Hong Kong men are kind and respectful towards women and are willing to help with childcare, which is something that is highly valued in mainland China.
