Hong Kong launches first cross-boundary public services kiosk in Guangzhou


23rd February 2024 – (Guangzhou) In line with the Chief Executive’s vision for a digital government and cross-border collaboration, the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau (ITIB) unveiled on 23rd February the pioneering Hong Kong Cross-boundary Public Services self-service kiosk in Guangzhou. This strategic move is set to bridge the service gap between Hong Kong and Guangdong Province, streamlining access to government facilities for residents and businesses within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) without the need for physical travel to Hong Kong.

The groundbreaking facility, situated on the third floor of the Guangzhou Municipal Government Service Center in Zhujiang New Town, empowers users to engage with over 50 Hong Kong government services. Operational from Monday to Friday between 9am and 5pm, except on public holidays, the self-service kiosk marks a significant step in inter-regional cooperation. The kiosk serves as a one-stop portal for a range of government services from nine departments, including tax, company and vehicle registration, property enquiries, personal identification, immigration, and emergency assistance. It’s designed to facilitate data input, document scanning, and printouts for a seamless service application experience.

Additionally, the “iAM Smart” self-registration kiosk at the same venue allows Hong Kong residents on the Mainland to sign up or upgrade to the “iAM Smart+” platform, further enhancing online service convenience. Registration details are available at www.iamsmart.gov.hk.
