The HKSAR Government has always attached great importance to commemorating the founding of the PRC. Each year, the government organises National Day celebrations, which serve as platforms to foster patriotism and national pride among the public. This year’s 1st October anniversary, being the 75th anniversary, is particularly significant as it represents the remarkable achievements of the country’s development under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. To ensure the success of the celebrations, the Chief Executive has instructed the Chief Secretary for Administration to lead the various bureaux and departments in making preparations for the National Day festivities.

Under the guidance of the Chief Secretary for Administration, various bureaux and departments will work collaboratively to plan and execute a wide range of celebratory activities. These activities will cater to diverse audiences, enabling people from different backgrounds and age groups to participate and share the joy of the National Day. Additionally, the 18 District Offices under the Home Affairs Department will partner with their respective District Councils to organize localized National Day events that reflect the unique characteristics of each district.

In addition to fostering patriotic sentiments, the HKSAR Government aims to showcase Hong Kong’s unique advantages and attractions to visitors from the Mainland and beyond. Thematic National Day celebratory events will be organized to highlight the unwavering support Hong Kong receives from the Motherland, as well as its global outlook.

Preparatory work for the National Day celebrations has already commenced, with bureaux and departments focusing on planning and preparing for relevant publicity arrangements. They will also enhance festive decorations at popular and iconic locations throughout the city. By creating a vibrant and celebratory atmosphere, the government aims to promote the spirit of patriotism and encourage active participation from all sectors of the community.

To ensure effective coordination and execution of the celebratory events, the Steering Committee on District Governance, chaired by the Chief Secretary for Administration, and the Task Force on District Governance, chaired by the Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration, will serve as high-level steering structures. These committees will guide and coordinate the efforts of various bureaux and departments involved in the preparations and implementation of the activities and publicity programs for the National Day.
