Hong Kong delegation’s medal haul at Asian Games reaches 14, including 3 golds, 4 silvers, and 7 bronzes

25th September 2023 – (Hong Kong) The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Mr Kevin Yeung, conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to swimming athlete Siobhan Bernadette Haughey for clinching a gold medal in the Women’s 200m Freestyle event at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Speaking from Hangzhou, Mr Yeung expressed his pride in Haughey’s exceptional performance, which brought glory to Hong Kong and filled its citizens with pride. Observing that the Hong Kong, China Delegation had already secured over 10 medals during his two-day visit to Hangzhou, Mr Yeung conveyed his excitement and expressed his wishes for further outstanding achievements by Hong Kong athletes in the upcoming Asian Games events.

Continuing his visit, Mr Yeung, accompanied by the Director of Leisure and Cultural Services, Mr Vincent Liu, and the Commissioner for Sports, Mr Sam Wong, met with the Director of the General Administration of Sport of China, Mr Gao Zhidan. The delegation visited the Xiaoshan Guali Sports Centre, where they witnessed Wushu competitions featuring Hong Kong athletes. Subsequently, they attended various events at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Aquatic Sports Arena.

Mr Yeung is scheduled to return to Hong Kong tomorrow morning, concluding his visit to Hangzhou.

So far, the Hong Kong delegation has amassed a total of 14 medals in the Asian Games, comprising three golds, four silvers, and seven bronzes. The medal tally for today’s achievements is as follows:
