2nd September 2026 – (Hong Kong) Hong Kong Customs has shut down a suspected etomidate manufacturing centre in Kam Tin and arrested a 61‑year‑old local man following an anti‑narcotics operation on 1st September. Officers searched a village house unit and seized more than 3,000 suspected etomidate capsules, about 13.4 kilograms of suspected liquid etomidate, roughly 3 kilograms of suspected etomidate powder, and a range of equipment believed to be used for drug production and packaging. The haul carries an estimated market value of about HK$42 million.
The suspect has been charged with one count of manufacturing a dangerous drug and one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug. The case is scheduled to be mentioned at Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts on 3rd September. Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, manufacturing or trafficking in a dangerous drug are serious offences, each punishable upon conviction by a fine of up to HK$5 million and life imprisonment.
