29th September 2026 – (Hong Kong) The Hong Kong Tourism Board is staging its first “Hong Kong Halloween Month”, stretching costume street parties across more than two weeks from 17th October with Saturday takeovers in Central, Kai Tak, Mong Kok and Tsim Sha Tsui East.

Partnering Lan Kwai Fong, Kai Tak Sports Park, Sino Group, Hongkong Land, Langham Place and transport operators under the theme “Transform and Take Over the City”, the board is expanding what used to be a single-day splash into a citywide dressing-up season of cosplay, DJ sets, markets and limited sightseeing routes.

From 17th October, the southern side of Statue Square Garden in Central will host immersive Halloween installations — including giant eyeballs and a mystery portal — lit daily from 4pm to 11.30pm until the early hours of 1st November, the morning after Halloween. Chater Road will stage event days on 17th, 18th, 24th and 31st October, from pickleball and a music festival to a family fun day, with a costume street party on Halloween night itself. Some attractions such as trampolines and the music festival will charge fees. Lan Kwai Fong will run three monster-themed cosplay carnivals on the three Saturdays.

At Kai Tak Sports Park, the main stadium facade will carry pumpkin-themed projections through the season, while Food Cove hosts a Halloween market with cosplay parties and body painting. To dovetail with US singer The Weeknd’s Hong Kong concerts, the market will be extended through four post-show after-parties.

Sino Group will put on three anime- and film-themed cosplay and electronic music parties at Mody Road Garden in Tsim Sha Tsui East, booking local and international DJs and neon photo spots. Langham Place will throw three street parties on Portland Street in Mong Kok, mixing cosplay with a red minibus photo set and live sets from girl group IdG Bubbles and band Goodnight Lillie. Lan Kwai Fong Group chairman Allan Zeman turned up in full costume for today’s launch briefing.

Citybus will run a Halloween open-top sightseeing route linking the party sites, free for travellers in costume. Trams will dress party cars in Halloween livery on the three Saturday evenings, running between Causeway Bay and Western Market in Sheung Wan for passengers to board.

HKTB executive director Anthony Lau Chun-hon said that besides six flagship mega events this year the board is pushing Chinese and Western festivals so tourism drives the wider economy. Citing the warm response to Mid-Autumn lantern displays, he said the trade would use Halloween to lift the festive mood further and aim to make Hong Kong Asia’s city with the densest Halloween atmosphere — so that when visitors think of a cosplay party, they think of coming here. He was confident this year’s Halloween would outshine past editions.
