HKJC announces 13 staff members of 6 off-site betting branches test positive for COVID-19 after attending a private party


8th August 2022 – (Hong Kong) The Hong Kong Jockey Club issued a statement yesterday saying that a number of off-track betting branch staff held a private party last Monday (August 1st), with a total of 43 employees present, 13 of whom tested positive during rapid antigen tests. They were immediately suspended from work. The remaining staff of the 6 off-site betting branches to which they belonged tested negative but the branches were closed immediately until further notice. They were thoroughly cleaned since last Friday (5th).

Among them, 8 infected employees were found to be positive during rapid antigen test last Thursday (4th) and on 5th August. The Jockey Club later asked the remaining 35 employees who had attended the party to undergo nucleic acid testing and found that another 5 people were diagnosed. The six affected off-market betting branches are located at Sha Kok Street, Sha Tin, Tai Wai Road, Wan Fung Street in Wong Tai Sin, Richland Gardens in Kowloon Bay, Shek Wu Hui in Sheung Shui, and Kwong Fuk Road in Tai Po.
