HK Sevens expected to be held between 4th and 6th November with 100,000 spectators, athletes and staff subject to closed-loop management

23rd June 2022 – (Hong Kong) The Hong Kong Sevens, the premier tournament on the World Rugby Sevens Series competition which has been suspended for two years is expected to be held between 4th and 6th November at Hong Kong Stadium.

According to foreign media reports, the Hong Kong Rugby Union plans to resume rugby matches in November, but only the men’s competition will be held, and the participating athletes and accompanying staff will be subject to closed-loop management. The Hong Kong Rugby Union confirmed that it is discussing with the Hong Kong government about organisation of the event saying that the public will be allowed to watch the match in person, but discussion is still underway as to whether food and drinks will be allowed.

It also disclosed that the women’s competition is expected to resume in April next year. According to the Home Affairs Bureau, the Rugby Union expects about 100,000 spectators to attend the event, and relevant departments are reviewing the epidemic prevention measures and arrangements for the game.
