During the session, Professor Sun mentioned that Hong Kong aims to attract talents from both Mainland China and overseas, and is currently working on enhancing its data infrastructure development, including the possible development of an AI Supercomputing Centre.

When asked about the risks associated with data sharing between two places and how the common station data infrastructure would attract overseas talents, Professor Sun stated that Hong Kong is focusing on the internationalisation of its data hub and is working on deepening its Research and Development (R&D) co-operation with the Mainland. He also mentioned that the two places are working towards sharing Information and Technology (I&T) resources and technology transfer, as well as strengthening manpower exchange.

Professor Sun emphasised that Hong Kong plays an important role in the nation’s I&T development and the city hopes to continue strengthening its coordination with Mainland authorities to further enhance its advantage in internationalisation.

In conclusion, the Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry stressed the importance of attracting overseas talent and developing a strong data infrastructure to establish Hong Kong as a hub for AI and data science.
