HK Observatory to issue the Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 before midnight


30th June 2022 – (Hong Kong) In the past few hours, Tropical Cyclone Chaba continued to track north. The associated outer rainbands are affecting Hong Kong. According to the present forecast track, as Chaba edges gradually closer to the coast of western Guangdong and intensifies slightly, local winds will strengthen gradually tonight. The Observatory will issue the Strong Wind Signal, No. 3 before midnight.

Tropical Cyclone Chaba will move in the general direction of the coast of western Guangdong in the next couple of days and intensify gradually. There will be strong winds with swells over the northern part of the South China Sea and the coast of southern China. Its associated outer rainbands will also bring squally showers and thunderstorms to the region. Under the influence of an active southerly airstream, the weather is expected to remain unsettled over the coast of Guangdong next week.

There will still be squally showers during the weekend and showers will be heavy at times. There will be swells. The weather will remain unsettled early to midweek next week.
