HK logs 1,794 COVID-19 cases today, 4 patients and 2 nurses at Prince of Wales Hospital test positive


25th June 2022 – (Hong Kong) Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan from the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health announced at 4.30pm today that there were 114 imported cases and 1,680 local COVID-19 cases today. 620 were confirmed via nucleic acid tests and 1,060 cases were confirmed via Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) online declaration platform. Total cases recorded today are 1,794.

In total, COVID-19 cases in Hong Kong have reached 1,223,329.

Among the 114 imported cases, 60 cases were found at Temporary sampling centre at the airport while 48 cases were found at designated quarantine hotels.

New COVID-19 cases were recorded in 6 residential care homes comprising 2 residential care homes for the elderly and 3 residential care homes for the handicapped. 3 employees and 2 residents were infected. In addition, 7 residents and 5 staff members of FU TAI ELDERLY HOME have tested positive so far. 2 staff members visited  Victoria Harbour Restaurant for dinner on 16th June and they might have been infected there.

Meanwhile, 3 cases were found in Class 6D in a school Yuen Long. 20 students in the same class need to be quarantined while face-to-face class will be suspended.

3 more customers linked to cluster outbreak in Victoria Harbour Restaurant at Shop 312 ,L3 ,Chelsea Heights, Shek Pai Tau Path, Tuen Mun have tested positive. So far, 36 customers and 4 close contacts have tested positive.

A total of 9,185 patients have passed away since the beginning of fifth wave and no new deaths were reported by Health Authority yesterday.

Dr. Sara Ho from the Hospital Authority said that more than 558 patients were still being hospitalised. 2 new patients were reported in critical condition and 1 new patient was in serious condition.

A total of 30 patients have recovered and 71 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours. 2 new cases were detected during admission screening. 8 patients in the same ward were listed as close contact.

Meanwhile, 24,125 employees under Hospital Authority have tested positive for COVID-19. 23,909 of them have returned to work after recovering.

In addition, one male patient at Prince of Wales Hospital has tested positive. 3 patients and 2 nurses in the same ward also tested positive.
