HK logs 1,685 COVID-19 cases today, 4 new cases recorded at Jade Garden Restaurant in MOKO


28th June 2022 – (Hong Kong) Dr Albert Au from the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health announced at 4.30pm today that there were 152 imported cases and 1,533 local COVID-19 cases today.

Total daily cases recorded today reached 1,685.

In total, COVID-19 cases in Hong Kong have reached 1,228,804.

Among the 152 imported cases, 86 cases were found at Temporary sampling centre at the airport while 54 cases were found at designated quarantine hotels. 12 cases were identified after the completion of quarantine at designated hotels.

No new cases were reported in residential care homes while 202 new cases were detected in 172 schools today. Cluster outbreaks were reported in three more schools, affected classes must be suspended for a week.

Another 28 new cases involving Omicron sub-variant BA.2.12.1 were recorded. 11 of the cases were of unknown origin.

1 more case involving 70-year-old customer was linked to cluster outbreak in Victoria Harbour Restaurant at Shop 312, L3, Chelsea Heights, Shek Pai Tau Path, Tuen Mun have tested positive. So far, 42 customers and 4 close contacts have tested positive.

Meanwhile, 4 new cases were reported at Jade Garden Restaurant in MOKO, Mong Kok.

In addition, 16 new suspected cases involving Omicron sub-variant BA.4 or BA.5 were detected. 12 of them were imported while 4 were local cases.

A total of 9,186 patients have passed away since the beginning of fifth wave and one new death involving female patient who received 2 vaccination shots was reported by Health Authority yesterday.

Dr. Lau Ka-hin from the Hospital Authority said that a total of 71 patients have recovered and 64 patients were discharged in the last 24 hours. No new case was detected during admission screening.

Meanwhile, 24,234 employees under Hospital Authority have tested positive for COVID-19. 23,961 of them have returned to work after recovering.
