7th July 2022 – (Hong Kong)  Hong Kong Customs on 2nd July seized about 7.8 kilograms of suspected liquid methamphetamine with an estimated market value of about $4.5 million at Hong Kong International Airport.

Through risk assessment, Customs on that day inspected an air parcel, declared to be carrying skin care products, arriving in Hong Kong from Thailand. Upon inspection, Customs officers found that suspected liquid methamphetamine was concealed inside 26 bottles of shampoo. The total weight was about 7.8kg.

After a follow-up investigation, Customs officers yesterday arrested a 35-year-old man, suspected to be connected with the case, in Tuen Mun. He has been charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at the Tuen Mun Magistrates’ Courts tomorrow.

Customs reminds members of the public to stay alert and not to participate in drug trafficking activities for monetary return. They must not accept hiring or delegation from another party to carry controlled items into and out of Hong Kong. They are also reminded not to carry unknown items for other people.
