HK actres Carina Lau sells Wong Chuk Hang Marinella apartment for HK$73.8 million, netting a profit of HK$21 million

    22nd August 2024 – (Hong Kong) A luxury residence previously owned by the actress Carina Lau has been sold for HK$73.8 million, marking a significant profit and highlighting the market’s upturn.

    The property, located at Marinella, 9 Welfare Road in Wong Chuk Hang, encompasses nearly 2,000 square feet, featuring four bedrooms and dual ensuite facilities. The apartment, which boasts expansive views of the adjacent yacht club and seascape, was sold on 5th April, including a parking space, at a price of approximately HK$37,865 per square foot.

    Originally purchased by Lau in 2011 for HK$52.73 million through her investment vehicle, Good Advance Investments Limited, the actress held onto the property for about 13 years. This recent transaction netted her a gain of over HK$21 million, translating to an appreciation of roughly 40%.

    This sale is part of a broader pattern of activity from Lau, who has been an active player in the property market in recent years. In May 2020, she sold another property located at Azura on Seymour Road in the Mid-Levels. The high-floor unit fetched HK$44 million, which worked out to HK$33,820 per square foot. The buyer was identified as Clement Conroy Chan, known to be related to the family of the late casino magnate Stanley Ho.

    The Azura property, also held under Good Advance Investments Limited, was acquired by Lau in 2011 for HK$39.09 million and sold after nine years, realising a profit of HK$4.91 million (approximately 12% gain).
