Hiram’s Highway in Sai Kung flooded after heavy rainfall

1st June 2019 – (Hong Kong) After Hong Kong Observatory announced amber warning at around 2.50am today, flooding occurred on Hiram’s Highway in Sai Kung near Marina Cove Water Front. The water level reached at least 1 ft above ground. Total affected area was approximately 30 meters X 20 meters.

A BMW was stranded in the flood. The 41 year old driver called police for help. Police officers helped to push the car to the nearest bus stop. The driver then left a note on his windscreen to notify road users that his car would be towed away.

At least 40mm rainfall was recorded in Sai Kung yesterday by Hong Kong Observatory.
