Hidden camera found in Shing Yip Street shop’s restroom, suspect escapes

23rd September 2023 – (Hong Kong) The manager of a shop located in Kwun Tong reported a case to the authorities this afternoon (23rd) at around 4pm. A 23-year-old woman discovered a suspicious camera device in the restroom of the establishment. Subsequently, a male suspect, approximately 20 to 30 years old, wearing a white short-sleeved shirt, black shorts, and white shoes, and sporting glasses at the time of the incident, was seen entering and exiting the restroom. However, by the time personnel arrived at the scene after receiving the report, the device had already been removed. The case is being investigated as a voyeurism offence, but no arrests have been made thus far.

The incident unfolded when the shop’s manager was alerted by the 23-year-old woman about a possible hidden camera inside the restroom. Concerned about the invasion of privacy, the manager immediately contacted the authorities to report the discovery. The presence of such a device raises serious concerns about the violation of personal privacy and the safety of public spaces.

Law enforcement personnel swiftly arrived at the scene to conduct a preliminary investigation. They inspected the restroom for any evidence and collected information to aid in the identification of the suspect.
