2nd May 2023 – (Hong Kong) This May, the Hong Kong Jockey Club is partnering with French May Arts Festival and French GourMay Food and Wine festival to bring the best of French art and culture to its signature event, Happy Wednesday. Visitors to Happy Valley Racecourse will experience the finest that France has to offer every Wednesday during May, from gourmet cuisine and fine wines to rich history and cultural traditions.
Upon entering Happy Valley Racecourse, guests will find themselves transported to the vibrant and lively French capital of Paris. The iconic Beer Garden will feature mini versions of the city’s most iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe, creating the ideal backdrop for those perfect Instagram moments and racing experience.
Foodies can indulge in an extensive menu of French culinary delights, including Provencal Beef Stew in Red Wine Sauce, Basque Chicken Stew with Rice Pilaf, and vibrant Macaroons for that perfect sweet ending. A dedicated booth showcasing wines from the country’s most renowned regions, including Bordeaux, Aix-en-Provence, and Cotes du Rhones, will appeal to oenophiles and racing fans alike. Gastronomes also must not miss the French Master Chef event on 24th May, which features a gourmet French menu complete with wine pairings designed by Michelin-star chef Franky Semblat and sommelier Sebastien Chevalier. Co-hosted by the Hong Kong Jockey Club and Tatler, guests will include VIPs.
Happy Wednesday is known for its stellar entertainment, and May will be no exception. Expect a variety of exciting acts planned throughout the month, kicking off with LA VIE EN ROSE on 3rd May, featuring a live band led by Sabra playing iconic French hits spanning the decades. On 17th May, FRENCH STREET FESTIVALS will include a high-octane performance by Le Groupe Electrogene Fanfare Club, while visitors can immerse themselves in a quintessential French city experience complete with street artists, mimes, jugglers, and other performers.
24th and 31st May pay tribute to the HEART OF MONMARTRE, one of Paris’ most vibrant districts. Guests can revel in heart-pounding can-can performances and marvelous musical showcases by Murphy’s Law, wrapping up an exciting month of French joie de vivre.
