Hamas condemns Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip, urges humanitarian aid and recovery efforts

3rd December 2023 – (Gaza) During a press conference on Saturday, the Hamas-run government expressed its outrage over Israel’s continuous bombardment of the war-torn Gaza Strip. According to the government’s Media Office Director, Ismael Al-Thawabteh, approximately 100,000 bombs and rockets have been launched by Israel since October 7, targeting the region.

Al-Thawabteh highlighted the severity of the attacks, noting that some of the bombs weigh a staggering 2,000 pounds and are deliberately aimed at civilian areas. Such actions have resulted in immense loss of life and devastation within the Palestinian population.

As of Saturday afternoon, the Palestinian death toll has tragically risen to 15,207, with an additional 7,500 individuals either trapped under the rubble or with unknown fates. The number of injuries has reached a distressing count of 40,650, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Expressing deep concern over the restrictive policies that hinder the entry of much-needed humanitarian aid, Al-Thawabteh called for the daily entry of a thousand trucks carrying genuine aid and supplies, along with 1 million litres of fuel. These essential provisions are necessary to salvage whatever can be saved from the deadly conflict and alleviate the suffering of the affected population.

Furthermore, he emphasized the urgent need for the entry of hundreds of pieces of equipment and machinery, including relief and emergency response teams, as well as civil defence personnel. Their presence is crucial to the retrieval of hundreds of corpses still buried under the rubble, and to clear the debris resulting from the widespread destruction of homes, schools, hospitals, streets, and critical infrastructure.
