23rd June 2022 – (Hong Kong) The government earlier announced the latest round of designated quarantine hotels. There are 62 hotels providing a total of 23,000 rooms. However, the number of people arriving in Hong Kong during the summer vacation has greatly increased. Tourism sector lawmaker Perry Yiu Pak-leung revealed that the government is considering adding 8 to 10 hotels, and has sent staff to inspect the ventilation systems. Bookings will be available to the public after meeting the requirements. It is estimated that the number of rooms can be increased to 30,000. He also urged the government to consider requisitioning the community isolation facilities for emergency use.
