28th March 2023 – (Hong Kong) Gleneagles Hospital has responded to a medical incident that occurred earlier this month, which involved a nurse administering the wrong medication to a patient. The incident was confirmed by the hospital today (28th) in a statement to local media.

The patient had visited the hospital on the 1st of this month for treatment and was prescribed medication by a doctor. However, due to an error made by a nurse, the patient was given the wrong medication via intravenous injection. The doctor who was present at the time quickly noticed the mistake and immediately conducted checks on the patient, who was closely monitored afterwards.

The hospital has stated that the patient’s condition has since stabilised, and the patient was able to leave the hospital. The nurse involved in the incident has resigned for personal reasons.

According to the hospital’s statement, the incident was reported to the Department of Health within 24 hours of its occurrence. The hospital has also apologised to the patient and provided an explanation of the incident.
