23rd February 2021 – (Hong Kong) The government finally relaxed some of the social distancing measures last Thursday (18th), including allowing four people to dine at the same table in a restaurant, but the gathering ban of up to two people has been maintained.
Many criticised the move for lack of scientific basis or logic. According to sources, the Executive Council passed the relaxation of the ban on gatherings to four people today, and the implementation time is yet to be announced. It is not the first time that the gathering ban and the table restriction order are inconsistent. However, the new relaxation of measure is expected to be implemented from midnight tomorrow (24th February).
In October last year, the government relaxed the number of people per table in restaurants to 6 people, but the ban on gatherings remained at 4 people.
