Futura unveils first permanent monumental sculpture in Hong Kong with exclusive art collectibles


24th April 2024 – (Hong Kong) Renowned international graffiti artist Futura is set to unveil his first-ever monumental permanent sculpture in Hong Kong. The installation, titled “AV-002B,” is a collaboration with The Repulse Bay Village and AllRightsReserved, marking a historic addition to the city’s vibrant art scene.

The sculpture launch, scheduled for late April at The Repulse Bay Village, will not only present Futura’s groundbreaking artwork but also feature the artist live-painting special canvases. These artworks are anticipated to further showcase Futura’s iconic abstract graffiti style, blending bold colors and dynamic forms.

In conjunction with the sculpture’s unveiling, a range of limited-edition collectables will be introduced to the art market. Among these is the “AV-003” Lamp Art Sculpture, a unique piece designed in collaboration with Futura Laboratories. This exclusive item will be available only at DDTStore in Repulse Bay Village, limited to a mere 100 pieces, underscoring its collectibility and artistic value.

Futura, born Leonard Hilton McGurr, has been a pioneering force in the street art movement since the early 1970s. His journey from illicit subway paintings in New York City to international acclaim has been marked by collaborations with major cultural figures and brands, including The Clash and Nike. Known for his innovative approach to graffiti, Futura transformed the art form with his abstract designs that diverge significantly from traditional lettering styles.

The event, titled “The Return of the Spray Wizard,” promises art enthusiasts and collectors a rare opportunity to meet Futura personally on the 27th and 28th of April at Shop G118-119, The Repulse Bay Arcade. Following the launch, the installation and additional artworks will be available for public viewing, offering a glimpse into the creative world of a street art legend.
