6th June 2021 – (Hong Kong) LANDMARK and BELOWGROUND welcome back to Hong Kong, the legendary contemporary artist FUTURA (a.k.a. FUTURA2000), who has officially landed to debut his latest creation – the X-6000, a 6-meter tall rocket ship – at “FUTURALAND”: a public installation and dynamic temporal retail execution in collaboration with globally renowned creative studio, AllRightsReserved (ARR), and the artist’s brand and design studio Futura Laboratories. The artist is currently in Hong Kong for the event and AllRightsReserved organised a private dinner at Margo Hong Kong yesterday.
Organised and curated by AllRightsReserved, in partnership with LANDMARK and BELOWGROUND, “FUTURALAND” features a large-scale 6-meter tall rocket ship surrounded by 7 FL-006 alien-like sculptural forms, each spanning 1.8 meters tall. The space-themed visual journey is the artist’s largest public installation to date.
FUTURA (born Leonard Hilton McGurr) was known as early as the 1970s for his radical approach in the “street”, introducing abstraction to a predominately letter-based discipline. During this period, he also came to Hong Kong for the first time as a 19-year old in the US Navy and has continually visited the city over the past few decades, often referring to Hong Kong as one of his “adopted second-homes”.
Be sure not to miss the chance to experience the space-themed exhibition featuring the large scale rocket ship installation, publicly showing in Hong Kong for the first time.
