Fung Kai Schools evacuated due to suspicious odour, 22 students admitted to hospital (Updated: 4pm)

28th March 2023 – (Hong Kong) Fung Kai No.1 Secondary School, Fung Kai No.1 Primary School, and Fung Kai Kindergarten were forced to evacuate this morning at 10.03am due to a suspicious odour coming from nearby. As a precaution, a large number of students and teachers were evacuated from the premises, and about 22 students reported feeling unwell and were sent to the school’s auditorium for further assistance.

According to eyewitness reports, multiple rescue vehicles rushed to the scene to assist the affected students. Around 22 students (11 males and 11 females aged 10-17) , including one primary school student and the rest being secondary school students, complained of feeling sick due to the foul odour. The smell has been described as a burnt smell, and the fire department is currently investigating the source of the odour.

The emergency services team worked swiftly to transport the affected students to the hospital for treatment. Reports indicate that all the affected students are now in a stable condition, and there is no cause for concern. A team of doctors is monitoring their health and providing necessary medical attention.
