Frightening traffic accident unfolds in Fanling as steel bars pierce truck cabin

22nd February 2024 – (Hong Kong) Two trucks collided on Sha Tau Kok Road in Fanling at around 2pm today. The vehicles were traveling along the lower section of the road, , when one of the trucks, carrying a load of steel bars, crashed into the rear of another truck, a container truck.

The force of the impact was so severe that multiple steel bars from the laden truck pierced through the cabin of the container truck, leaving a shocking scene. The driver of the container truck, a 65-year-old man surnamed Lee, was trapped inside, covered in blood and suffering from leg injuries. Promptly responding to the scene, firefighters worked diligently to extricate him from the wreckage. Lee remained conscious throughout the rescue operation and was swiftly transported by ambulance to Prince of Wales Hospital for medical treatment.

Fortunately, the driver of the other truck, a 63-year-old individual, escaped the accident unscathed and did not require hospitalization. The police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances leading to the collision, aiming to determine the exact cause of this unexpected incident.
