9th June 2023 – (Beijing) Chen Rugui, a former vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People’s Congress, has been indicted for taking bribes. The National Commission of Supervision concluded its investigation into Chen’s case and the People’s Procuratorate of Nanning City in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region initiated a public prosecution against him at the Intermediate People’s Court of Nanning City.
Chen is accused of using his positions of power to benefit other individuals and units in matters related to project contracting and business operations in exchange for large sums of money and valuable items. The prosecution has informed Chen of his litigation rights, interrogated him, and listened to his lawyer’s opinions.
