27th May 2023 – (Washington) Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and former US President Donald Trump met this week to discuss Ukraine and the importance of a Ukrainian victory in the ongoing conflict with Russia. Johnson has been touring the US to drum up support among top Republicans for Ukraine in the wake of Russia’s invasion. Trump has faced scrutiny over his stance on the conflict and has promised to resolve the war in 24 hours, but his support for either Russia or Ukraine has been questioned.

The meeting between Trump and Johnson took place on Thursday and a spokesperson for Johnson confirmed that Ukraine talks were on the agenda. Trump and Johnson previously had a complex relationship, with Trump describing Johnson as a “friend” but also criticising his government’s support for eco policies.
