5th December 2023 – (Sao Paolo) Renowned actress Florence Pugh was left stunned and shaken when she was hit in the face by an object hurled from a crowd of fans during a ComicCon event in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The incident occurred on Sunday while Pugh, 27, was participating in a panel alongside her co-stars Timothee Chalamet, Austin Butler, and Zendaya to promote the upcoming film Dune: Part Two.
Video footage captured the moment of the shocking incident, showing the Oscar-nominated star of Little Women visibly shocked as the object made contact with her face. The incident took place as the cast members and director Denis Villeneuve were posing for photos before leaving the stage.
Immediately after the incident, Pugh’s concerned co-stars checked on her to ensure she was unharmed. Unfortunately, this incident is the latest in a series of instances where celebrities have been targeted by objects thrown by fans.
Earlier during the Dune: Part Two panel, Pugh expressed her excitement about being a part of the sci-fi sequel, describing the experience as “really, really special.” She also spoke highly of her co-stars, stating, “I had an amazing time coming in and just hanging around with these people, let alone actually getting to work with them. The power in this room is because of that first movie, and we felt that when we went on set every single day.”
Following the incident, fans took to social media to express their outrage, with many condemning the act as “disgusting” and “disrespectful.”
