8th March 2025 – (Hong Kong) Police have arrested one man and four women, aged between 15 and 22, on suspicion of “assault causing actual bodily harm” following a disturbing incident involving a 15-year-old girl. The arrests occurred across various districts on 7th and 8th March, after a video surfaced online depicting a group assaulting the girl in a stairwell.
The six-minute video shows a group surrounding the victim, with several individuals wearing masks and short-sleeved shirts, taking turns to slap her at least 15 times while hurling insults. The victim appears visibly distressed, pleading, “Let me speak first,” and “It wasn’t me,” although her appeals are disregarded amid the commotion.
The police received a report on the evening of 7th March concerning a separate incident from August 2024, where a 14-year-old girl allegedly clashed with several individuals in a mall stairwell on Laundry Street in Mong Kok, resulting in her being slapped in the face. Following intelligence analysis and thorough investigation, officers arrested the suspects, who are currently in custody for further questioning.
The video, which has been widely shared online, shows bystanders urging caution against live-streaming the event, with one individual shouting, “Hit her harder, I want to see.” As the assault continued, another person signalled the group to remain quiet to avoid detection. The incident reportedly took place at Golden Era Plaza in Mong Kok.
