4th September 2026 – (Hong Kong) Five people have pleaded guilty at the District Court to a conspiracy that defrauded ParknShop of more than HK$3.2 million by fabricating warehouse workers’ attendance over roughly two years. The case followed an investigation by the Independent Commission Against Corruption. Judge Ernest Lin Kam-hung remanded the defendants in custody and adjourned sentencing to 5th March 2027.
The defendants are Lau Kin‑pong, 44, then a senior supervisor at ParknShop’s eCommercial Distribution Centre; Tai Kin‑man, 43, then an assistant manager at Earnward Warehouse Limited; and three then‑warehouse workers employed by Logistics Network Management Limited: Wong Wai‑fung, 27, Wong Pak‑kan, 28, and Lau Tsz‑pan, 28. All admitted one count of conspiracy to defraud at common law and indicated a willingness to assist the prosecution.
Investigators found that, between June 2019 and April 2021, an identical clocking machine to the one used at the distribution centre was purchased to create bogus time records for 13 supposed workers whose signatures were forged; those individuals had not worked at the centre or received wages. The false records were verified within routine processes, and the illicit proceeds were then shared among the conspirators.
A co‑defendant, Cheng Cheuk‑kei, 43, then the centre’s warehouse operations manager, has denied one count of conspiracy to defraud. His trial is listed for 10th February 2027. Parknshop, Earnward Warehouse and Logistics Network Management provided full assistance to the ICAC during the inquiry. Prosecuting counsel was Jacky Jim, assisted by ICAC officer Xavier Leung.
