First Cross Reality (XR) horror house escape room in Asia opens at MOKO Shopping Complex in Mong Kok

16th June 2019 – (Hong Kong) The first XR (Cross reality) horror house escape room in Asia will open at MOKO shopping complex in Mong Kok. The 1,000sqf escape room combines AR (Augmented Reality), VR (Virtual Reality) and MR (Mixed Reality) to give players visual, audio and sensory experiences during the game. There are a total of 3 differently themed horror chambers with local Hong Kong elements where players must complete their missions before they can proceed to each level.

The terms “X-Reality” and “XR” have a long history from the 1960s (Wyckoff), the 1990s (Mann and Wyckoff for computerized eyeglass-based mediated reality), and the 2000s (Coleman, Paradisio and Landay who also introduced the term “Cross Reality”), and the term “XR” has appeared in multiple trademark registrations submitted to the US Patent & Trademark office by the Sony Corporation beginning as early as 1988 (though Sony does not hold a trademark for the standalone, two letter term “XR”).
