Fire engulfs 43 motorcycles and 2 bicycles at parking lot under footbridge in Kwai Chung


27th September 2022 – (Hong Kong) At around 2am today, some debris were suspected to be set on fire at the bottom of the footbridge near Kwai Wing Road, Kwai Chung. Nearby residents who were alerted by the incident called the police for help. Firefighters rushed to the scene to put out the fire, and a total of 43 motorcycles and 2 bicycles, were set ablaze.

Firefighters continued to spray water to cool down the burned vehicles to prevent the ashes from re-igniting. Preliminary investigation by the fire department found no natural cause of the fire, and the incident was considered suspicious, and they handed over the arson case to the police to follow up. As the fire affected a large number of motorcycles and bicycles, the parking lot was turned into a junkyard.
