Fire breaks out at Regal Crest apartment in Mid-Levels, at least 6 injuries reported, fire upgraded to No.3 alarm at 1.24pm (Updated: 2.30pm)


22nd January 2023 – (Hong Kong) At around 12.01pm today, fire broke out in a unit at Regal Crest, No.5- 9 Robinson Road, Mid-Levels. Firefighters and paramedics rushed to the scene after receiving the report. According to on-site sources, at least 6 people in the fire were sent to the hospital, including a firefighter. The cause of the fire in the unit is yet to be investigated. The fire was upgraded to No. 3 alarm at 1.24pm. The fire was surrounded at 2.20pm, put under control at 2.39pm. It was largely put out at 3.43pm.

The six victims in the fire suffered burns and smoke inhalation. Four persons were sent to Queen Mary Hospital for treatment. Two persons were sent to Ruttonjee Hospital for treatment. One of them was unconscious and a firefighter was also injured. There was an electrical short circuit in the unit when residents were singing karaoke, and then the curtains were burned to cause a fire.

Another 3 women and 7 pet dogs were still in the building, and some of them took shelter on the roof of the building.

Members of the public who are being affected by the smoke and an unusual odour carried by the wind are advised to close their doors and windows and stay calm.
