Final deadline at 5pm today for government to comply with university students’ demands


20th June 2019 – (Hong Kong) Representatives from local universities announced in a media conference yesterday that if the government fails to comply with protestors’ demands by 5pm today they will take the protest to the next level tomorrow from 7am onwards. Government headquarters will be surrounded by protestors tomorrow while MTR train service will be disrupted.

Many netizens have also called upon working class, teachers and students and businesses to go on strike tomorrow.

A total of six universities from Hong Kong have participated in the media conference yesterday i.e. (Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK)
, City University of Hong Kong, Education University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Hang Seng University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts) . Jacky So, the students’ union leader of CUHK criticised the continuous play of words by government to avoid withdrawing the contentious extradition bill.

The four demands made by Hong Kongers include:

  1. Complete withdrawal of Extradition Bill;
  2. Retraction of the use of word ‘ riot’ for the stand off on 12th June;
  3. Relinquish all charges against protestors;
  4. Full investigation on police brutality.
