26th August 2019 – (Hong Kong) Food and Environmental Hygiene Department deployed cleaners since 7pm yesterday to sanitise Yeung Uk Road market. It is estimated that they would take around 2 days to complete the entire cleaning process.
Many residents were worried that chemical traces left behind by tear gas rounds would compromise food safety and hygiene. Tsuen Wan District Councillor, Nixie Lam has already informed the local market committee chairman and the stall owners. They had also undertaken to carry out full cleaning process before commencing business.
